Anastasios Deligeorgis, Orthopaedic Surgeon – Sports Medicine Specialist, attended the Varvakeio Model School and the Medical School of the University of Athens. He specialized in General Orthopaedics, Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, Microsurgery, and Upper Limb Surgery at KAT Hospital and the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens (401 GSNA). He also trained at major hospitals in the United Kingdom, including Stoke Mandeville Hospital and West Suffolk Hospital, thus gaining valuable experience in managing chronic and emergency orthopaedic cases based on international standards.

He specialized in the application of advanced arthroscopic techniques at internationally certified medical education centers, accredited by the European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (I.S.A.K.O.S). Notable centers include the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in France and the Arthroscopy & Shoulder Surgery Center in Greece. Additionally, he received further training in robotic technology and navigation systems, the latest trends in Orthopaedics. Specifically, he is certified in using the MAKO robotic system for knee and hip arthroplasty procedures.

He is among the first worldwide to attend and successfully complete the Postgraduate Specialization Program in Sports Medicine by the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, Switzerland. Moreover, his long-term involvement in sports (former national champion in the 800m and 400m events, while continuing to participate in running and triathlon competitions) helps him better understand the needs of injured athletes and offer them the most suitable and modern treatment, aiming for their safe and swift return to sports activities.

He holds international certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS), and Specialized Polytrauma Care.

Professional Experience

In Greece, he worked from 2008 to 2012 as an Orthopedic Surgeon at the Orthopedic Clinic of KAT Hospital, the largest orthopedic hospital and trauma center in Greece, managing many complex orthopedic conditions and sports injuries. In 2012, upon honorary invitation by the French Medical Institutions and Dr. Pascal Gleyze (former President of ESA-ESKA), he worked as an Arthroscopic Surgery Instructor at the internationally renowned Yanda International Hospital in China (one of the few hospitals worldwide accredited with the top quality certification by JCI).

Subsequently, he served as an Orthopedic Surgeon at the B’ Orthopedic Clinic of IASO General, the Orthopedic and Sports Injuries Department of Athens Medical Center – Psychiko Clinic, and the 3rd Orthopaedic Department of Hygeia Hospital. Simultaneously, he volunteered as a physician at the Municipal Clinics of Agia Paraskevi.

Now, he is Associate Director of the 3rd Orthopaedic Department of Hygeia Hospital. The 3rd Orthopaedic Department is one of the few nationally certified training centers in arthroscopic surgery by international scientific organizations.

He collaborates with internationally recognized orthopaedic surgeons abroad and their teams, such as Dr. Enrico Gervasi (Chair of Orthopaedic and Traumatologic Department, Civil Hospital, Latisana, Italy), Dr. Pascal Gleyze (Past President of ESA-ESKA, Albert Schweitzer Hospital, France), and Prof. Tom Clement Ludvigsen (Oslo University Hospital, Norway), working on the latest minimally invasive orthopaedic surgical techniques (MIS), thus staying at the forefront of medical advances.

Research and Teaching Work

He participates in scientific research with results published in reputable international scientific journals and is a speaker and clinical instructor of advanced techniques in Greek and international educational seminars and conferences.

Since 2016, as a member of the organizing committee of the international Athens Shoulder Course, he is responsible for coordinating surgeries and training orthopaedic surgeons worldwide.

Additionally, he is one of the founding members and trainers of Osteosynthesis & Trauma Care (OTC) Hellas, focusing on orthopaedic trauma education in Greece.

He is a member of the Hellenic Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EEXOT), the Hellenic Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Sports Injuries (EAE), the European Society for Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology (ESSKA), the General Medical Council of England, the European Shoulder Associate (ESA), the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

  • 1st Prize at the 19th Cypriot Orthopaedic Conference for the oral presentation “Primary Surgical Treatment of Knee Dislocation. Our experience”
  • 2nd Prize at the 7th Anniversary Conference of the Department of Intramedullary Nailling division of Hellenic Society of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology for the presentation “Radiological Differences After Fracture Healing of Intertrochanteric A2 and A2.3 by AO/OTA Using Gamma Nail and Plate Sliding Nail – AMBI”
